Why wouldn’t I just post my resume on a web-based service?
Most hiring managers and HR recruiters are too busy to waste time separating the wheat from the chaff on web career boards. It’s a big job to qualify and screen respondents, and many don’t have the staff to do it. On the other side, we‘ve been told by many candidates that they have been buried with emails from employers that have nothing to do with their career path. Certainly some companies will place candidates from the web boards, but many qualified candidates get missed. Serious career candidates know better, especially if you want your job search to be confidential. In many cases, we are on a first-name basis with actual hiring managers, and we can make the actual decision maker aware of your availability.
What’s our process?
When you send in your resume to us, we’ll send you a detailed questionnaire unique to your career direction that will help us get to know you better, possibly including some technical questions that when answered could help enhance our presentation of your resume to employers. Then we’ll do our own in-depth telephone interview with you. Our notes and your information will be held in a secure database.
When we have a job opportunity that’s a good fit for you, we’ll call and review the specific position and your current status. If you and we agree to move forward, we will make a formal presentation on your behalf to the employer, with the intent of setting expectations with the employer for an excellent interview and hiring opportunity.
We will set up the initial telephone contact for you with the employer, and review your skills and interviewing strategy with you. After the telephone (or Zoom) interview with the employer, we will follow up with both you and the client to determine potential interest. If both parties agree, we will arrange an on-site interview, and subsequent follow-up.
